Jacques Garcia conceived each design as a reference to the history. The details in his designs flow with elegance, strong use of colour, theatrical perspectives. He makes use of precious tapestry of materials and furnishings, sensuous fabrics, XIXth century engravings, Viollet Le Duc chandeliers, mosaics, beautiful hand-painted doors, black granite for the floor.

The artist finds inspiration in Zen minimalism, neo-Gothic architecture, Egyptian revival architecture, Napoleon III extravagance.

Jacques Garcia gets inspired by oriental arts, romanticism and lush neo-gothic style to create a sumptuous indoor spectacle, with heavy curtains, dark chests and dim lighting, Byzantine alcoves and mosaic-tile tubs.

La Mamounia Hotel, in Marrakech

Jacques Garcia designed Marrakech famous hotel, La Mamounia, where he reinterprets the elements of the Moorish-style architecture adding the French sophistication. A wonderfully hectic designed hotel set within the 12-century ramparts surrounding the old medina.

This enchanting beaux arts boutique hotel astonishes with its all-in pursuit of luxury. With an upscale-bohemian interior, NoMad brings Broadway back to its golden days.

Jacques Garcia draws upon the richness of the materials: damask-printed velvet partitions, reclaimed maple hardwood floors, leather headboard with engraved detailing, beautiful Persian rugs, Sferra linens.

The hotel’s focal point is the 2 story library, with a spiral staircase from France, a gateway for the bibliophiles that crave for both a good read and creative cocktails.

I love how the artist speaks of his work: “Real French taste is what? It’s Louis XIV, it’s Mme. de Pompadour, it’s Marie Antoinette, it’s Napoleon and Josephine and it’s the Third and Fourth Republics, Marie-Laure de Noailles, Coco Chanel. That’s France. They’re all too much. And I’m with them.”
