Prosecco- Part I

Foss Marai Guia Prosecco

Foss Marai, a nice bubbly surprise!

I recently encountered Foss Marai Strada di Guia, Prosecco di Valdobbiadene, this beautiful and delicious extra dry sparkling wine, a real ambassador for the Italian prosecco, rated 85 points by Wine Spectator. This is one of my 2 favorite proseccos, together with La Marca Valdobiadenne.

Originally from NE Italy, it owns its name from a small village, Guia, in municipality of Valdobbiadene, province of Treviso, region Veneto.

It’s all about emotion in this wine, when you serve it you feel the floral and fruity flavors and aromas.. You’ll discover its effervescence, the balance between sweetness and acidity, notes of the green apple, pineapple and banana that make this a perfectly unique prosecco. . The finish is light, refreshing, and crisp. The Prosecco (Glera) grapes are grown in steep hillside vineyards, in an area with unique characteristics that give the finest quality in this spumante.

Refined and elegant, it is very versatile, a great option for every time of the day. Wonderful as an aperitif, it is also well-suited to accompany delicate dishes like oysters, shellfish, caviar or rich fish such as tuna or salmon. It might also be enjoyed with mature and hard cheese or your favorite dessert.

I purchased it from Ethic Wine, in Floreasca, for 69 RON. It is such a good value for money. Ethic Wine gets it from Recas, the distributor in Romania. Marinela Vasilica Ardelean, Foss Marai brand ambassador in Romania speaks very nice of this wine in few of her videos on her website.

Always serve it chilled between 8-10°C. It can be served in sparkling flutes or white wine glasses.

All in all, since we’ve  discovered, we’ve enjoyed it many times, at dinners. I am glad my friend Jonas recommended it.
