Anwilka, the best South African wine I’ve tasted by now
Irrespective of the meat dish you choose to have, I really recommend South African Anwilka that is sure to please the guests gathered around your table. Anwilka Cabernet-Shiraz Blend Stellenbosch (2006), beautifully perfumed, has notes of dark berry and plum fruit, a full bodied, incredible balance and detail, very complex and in a European style of winemaking.
It is a fresh and elegant wine and the retail price (in Europe) is around €40.
66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Shiraz and 5% Merlot
Anwilka Vineyards is located just 7 km from the ocean, in the coastal region of Stellenbosch, Cape’s premium red wine producing district. Anwilka Vineyard is a joint venture wine, purchased in 1997 and produced under the guidance of internationally acclaimed Bordeaux wine experts. The production of Anwilka wines started in 2005.
I drank the Anwilka 2006 paired with a dish of lamb chops with green salsa, fried potatos and a sprinkle of cherry balsamic.
We enjoyed it with great friends during dinner.
Serving tips: Open it an hour before serving! Keep it at 15C.
Enjoy your wine in a good company! 😉
